Project |06 Stewart Drummond interview

Stew beats the drum for Shrimps

MORECAMBE midfielder Stewart Drummond is confident the club can make it a hat-trick of wins this Saturday as they travel to Play-Off hopefuls Dagenham and Redbridge.

The 38-year-old believes the Shrimps fortunes have changed in recent weeks after back to back victories over Southend and Newport County as they look to maintain a late top seven finish.

He told The Score: “It’s one of those, if we get on a good run, start putting wins together then we’ll soon start to climb up the table.

“It’s a really tight league this season and any team that puts a few wins together on the spin can start looking towards the Play-Offs. Hopefully that’s what we can do rather than looking down towards the bottom of the league.

“We’ve faced some good sides in the last three or four weeks and Dagenham will be no different to that.

“Whether we’re playing a team that’s at the top, bottom or mid-table, it’s always a similar sort of test so we always like to prepare in the same way.

“We were just starting to feel the pressure, sliding down the league a little bit and the two wins in a week has helped to alleviate a little bit of that pressure.

“Hopefully the lads can gain a little bit of confidence from that and start playing with a bit more belief.”
