University of Central Lancashire's dance team scores big at Sunderland

 

 

UCLan dance took 1st place in Advanced Jazz and 3rd place in Novice Hip-Hop in their penultimate competition.

 

The final call for the dance girls would see them travel to Sunderland university were competition for success was higher than ever, with some of the best leading universities in dance partaking.

 

Sweet success; the Jazz team achieved the hat-trick; taking 1st place in all three competitions they have participated in; Liverpool John Moores, UCLan, and now Sunderland.

 

Jessie Froggett a performer on the Jazz and Hip-Hop team told The Score: "I can't quite believe today, we have got the hat-trick. This is by far the best dance team I've ever been a part of.

 

"It's been a really good day. Sunderland has been the best competition to date, what a feeling, the girls were amazing.

 

She continued: "It's quite an emotional day as this is my last year at university. I have mixed emotions. I don’t want to leave these girls and my team."UCLan were not finished there. The team also took the award for best choreography in Hip-Hip.

 

Maria Berna de Torres; responsible for choreographing the team couldn't hide her delight at the result.She said "I am delighted, the girls have been so good it’s testament to their hard work. I couldn't have done it without them. They are a special bunch. I want to dedicate the award to my team."

 

It ends a successful year for the dance team, and what a way to bow out. The girls can be very proud of their efforts.
